Job description: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to step up into this career defining Financial Accounting role within government.This Wellington based role involves contributing to and leading the preparation of financial reports and forecasts, including monthly and annual statements. You will be responsible for reviewing financial data, interacting with various finance staff, and preparing detailed analyses and explanations of financial results. Additionally, you will provide expert advice on technical accounting issues and support projects to improve financial reporting.Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to and lead a small team preparing reporting, including monthly financial statements and forecast tracks.
  • Prepare and review consolidations and reconciliations.
  • Present and market information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain systems and processes for financial reporting.
  • Contribute to the preparation of annual financial statements and forecasts.
  • Provide advice and analysis on technical accounting queries and issues.
  • Lead projects to improve reporting products and manage operational processes.

Qualifications/Experience

  • CA qualification or Equivalent
  • Strong working knowledge of technical accounting standards, ideally from an audit background.
  • Strong analytical and literacy skills.
  • Highly effective planning and organisational skills, including project management and prioritisation.
