Job description: The sweet things you’ll be involved in:Sugar Australia has an exciting opportunity for a Financial Accountant to join our team in a permanent full-time capacity, based at our Head Office in Yarraville VIC. Reporting to our Finance Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring accurate and complete financial information to support effective financial management and operational decision making. You will also contribute to monthly reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and audit processes.Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Contributing to month-end processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting schedules.
- Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Ensuring key internal controls are operating effectively on an ongoing basis.
- Assisting with financial system processes to support monthly reporting, budgeting, and forecasting cycles.
- Preparing and submitting data for BAS and FBT compliance requirements.
- Coordinating weekly cash flow forecasts and supporting overall cash management activities.
- Providing reporting for capital project governance and assisting with capital project administration.
- Managing internal recharge processes and compiling budget documentation.
- Assisting in the preparation of annual financial statements and supporting the external audit process.
- Continuously identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and drive efficiency.
What we’re wanting you to bring to the table:
This role is suited to someone with a strong attention to detail, an analytical mindset, and a collaborative working style. You’ll also need:
- A tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commercial, and / or Business.
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Continuous improvement mindset and ability to meet deadlines.
- Experience with accounting software, such as SAP, is highly desirable.
- Progress toward CPA or CA accreditation is an advantage.
- A passion for learning, working in a team environment, and driving accurate outcomes.
