This role will see you responsible for the preparation of accounting and financial reporting information to meet the needs of stakeholders, regulatory bodies and management, and to comply with applicable accounting standards and relevant legislation.Some of the key responsibilities are:

• Prepare annual and half-yearly financial statements, including liaising with relevant team members for specific disclosures.
• Process accounting information for subsidiaries, associates, and joint ventures into financial ledgers in accordance with GAAP, ensuring reconciliation with external financial information.
• Prepare accounting entries for fuels, emissions, carbon trading, and other areas in accordance with GAAP.
• Support the Financial Accounting Manager with technical accounting advice, research and write technical accounting papers, monitor best practice financial disclosures, and provide recommendations for improving financial reporting.
• Prepare and review monthly reconciliations of general ledger balance sheet accounts, monitor completion of these reconciliations across the Finance function, and provide monthly reporting to the Financial Accounting Manager and GM Financial Control and Assurance.
• Submit forecast information into the Crown reporting system.
• Primary reviewer of monthly actuals for submission into the Crown reporting system.

About you

• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in financial accounting (preferably in a corporate or professional services environment)
• CA (member of ICANZ or similar)
• Commerce degree in Accountancy

Preference for applicants with:

• Tertiary taxation study
• Experience in Chartered Accountancy in audit or business services
• Workday experience
• Experience in consolidated financial statements
