This role will focus on using data-driven insights to influence cost efficiency decisions, shape transformation initiatives, and support the development of high-quality business cases.What you will help us to achieve

  • Prepare and review periodic financial and management reports for Financial & Regulatory Reporting purposes and business management within required deadlines
  • Oversee the Financial Planning process including annual budget preparation, periodic forecasting, analysis of financial results/management reports and preparation of capital projections
  • Implement and monitor adherence to financial reporting and control policies in accordance with company and group requirements and standard accounting practices
  • Oversee the development of new systems and procedures to meet the changing regulatory and business requirements and anticipated future needs of the business and/or clients
  • May manage a team of Finance professionals to ensure there are sufficient resources with the necessary experience, personal development and technical support to implement strong financial reporting and controls and achieve desired business outcomes and/or have advanced skills in a particular Accounting discipline
  • Involved in the successful delivery of projects as required from time to time
  • Partner with the business to provide financial operating results/management reports and help identify potential solutions to issues prior to escalation to senior management
  • Operationally manage engagement with auditors and GWL controllership teams

More specific responsibilities will include

  • Support the Executive Finance Manager in partnering closely with Divisional Leaders to support transformational initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational goals
  • Act as a liaison between the business and finance, using data insights to guide decisions on cost efficiency initiatives
  • Engage with operational leaders to understand cost drivers and support prioritisation of transformation opportunities.
  • Support business units in developing robust, data-informed business cases for change initiatives.
  • Produce and present key trends and cost drivers in a commercially relevant way, ensuring buy-in and clarity across stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with broader finance to ensure business feedback is considered in forecasts and planning.
  • Monitor benefits realisation of approved transformation initiatives and escalate any deviations from plan.
  • Contribute to scenario modelling and planning cycles, embedding expected savings and costs associated with change efficiency initiatives.
  • Ensure integrity and consistency of underlying data across reporting layers.
  • Liaison with Finance as necessary to ensure insightful cost reporting is provided to the business.
  • Potentially line manage one of more direct reports in the future

What you will need to be successful in the roleThe ideal candidate will have/be:

  • An excellent academic record – university degree in a numerate and relevant discipline, additional professional accountancy qualifications.
  • 5-10 years of Finance experience, ideally in Business Partnering or FP&A role.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with a track record in stakeholder engagement.
  • Solid understanding of financial concepts, business cases, and ROI modelling.
  • Proficiency in interpreting Power BI dashboards and EPM reports.
  • Experience working with SAP, cost centre data and transformation projects.
  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to apply finance insights to real-world business.
  • The ability to work in a fast-moving environment, and the interpersonal skills required to interact with all stakeholders.
  • A motivated self-starter with significant experience in driving and managing cross-functional deliverables via collaboration.
  • Excellent presentation, communication and MS Office skills.
