This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to grow their career in external communications.In this role, you’ll work closely with the Group Head of External Relations and the wider External Communications team to support media engagement, issues management, and external communication initiatives. You’ll gain hands-on experience in financial services communications while helping to keep the team running smoothly.Your new roleA day in the role may look a bit like this;Understand key communication strategies and help lead communication initiatives to ensure alignment of policies and processes across the businessDrafting and coordinating media releases, Q&As, and other external communications.Assisting with media enquiries and helping to manage responses.Helping to execute thought leadership initiatives and communication plans.Assisting with writing and editing content, including articles, speeches, and social media posts.Working with various teams and stakeholders to ensure communications are aligned and effectively delivered.Supporting the team with administrative and governance tasks to ensure smooth team operations, including managing key documents and communications.About youTo be successful as the External Communications Specialist you will have an initial experience working with media relations and issues management in a similar sector.You will also have;Experience in financial services, PR agencies, internal communications, or government would be beneficial.Proven experience in writing and editing, as well as with crafting compelling executive communications, editorial articles, social media posts, talking points and scriptsStrong writing and editing skills, with experience drafting media materials and other communications.Outstanding time-management skills, detailed oriented with the ability to work in fast-paced environmentsA team player mentality, ready to jump in and support where needed.Great organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple moving pieces.A positive, can-do attitude, with a desire to develop into a communications specialist.About QBEWe can never really predict what’s around the corner, but at QBE we’re asking the right questions to enable a more resilient future – helping those around us build strength and embrace change to their advantage.
