Lead G&G team to conduct exploration evaluation studies/ activities to deliver: (1) Robust prospect and lead inventory (2) High quality geological analysis/ studies and interpretation that includes a variety of reservoirs, fluids and maturity, (3) exploration/ appraisal proposals and data acquisition, and (4) Safely all asset related operational activities, (5) Contracts management and monitoring exploration expenditure, (6) Long term asset exploration strategy and robust annual WP&B.Responsible in managing stakeholder including MEM and partners. Coordinate joint venture and EPSA meeting to obtain all necessary internal/ partners and external approvals. Conduct regular asset performance reviews with partners and MEM.The position will act in accordance with the OQEP’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines and standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Omani’s government & other legal justifications, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.Mian Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Lead with autonomy and oversees in a greater scope the specific area / process / discipline by establishing Strategies, plans, programs, goals, deadlines, and budgets for Block 54 exploration project.
  • Generate long term strategy and annual work program and budget for internal/ partner and MEM approvals
  • Oversees the team members and guide them to ensure the accomplishment of efficient/ effective strategic goals/ KPI’s.
  • Mentor and coaching Geoscientist staff to improve their skills and develop them into independent performers
  • Lead Geoscientist to represent the company at partner and MEM interface meetings & TCM’s.
  • Lead delivery of well scoped and pre-defined exploration geological/ evaluation studies
  • Apply advanced geological expertise and professional judgment in delivering assigned projects and presents completed analysis and recommendations at Peer Reviews, Peer Assists and Functional Reviews as part of the company Value Assurance Framework.
  • Accountable to formulate realistic alternative subsurface realizations and provide risk and ranking of exploration opportunities and recommendations.
  • Ensures all geological uncertainties and risks are incorporated into forward exploration/ appraisal plans, and are included in all estimates of resources
  • Liaise with other team members to carry out subsurface evaluation and analysis to propose well locations and pick wells to fulfil business objectives as well as defining necessary data gathering like logging, coring, etc.
  • Supervise all phases of planning, delivery and evaluation of well planning/ operations, including Geotech Documents, data gathering, daily reporting and post-well studies and analyses
  • Lead and support specialist studies; sedimentological, diagenetic, micropalaeontology , hydrocarbon finger printing etc.
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholder meetings
  • Management of asset budget, manpower, and exploration expenditure
  • Ensure all evaluations are documented and related geological data (both petro-technical and physical) is handled in accordance with the companies Data Management Standards
  • Propose, develop and support G&G work to gain internal and partner approval for operator recommendations /proposals
  • Establish and formulate workflows, best practices and procedures for OQ Upstream in the exploration function.
  • Adhere to appropriate functional procedures and Standards
  • Ensure to Work safely and think proactively about personal safety and safety of others at work
  • Actively participate in, contribute to, and promote company occupational health, safety, security and environment culture.
  • Ensure work is carried out in accordance with the Company HSE policies and procedures, meet company HSE goals and targets.
  • Participate in HSE programs and MSV’s (Management site visits)
  • Stand-by / on-call duties when required

  • 16+ Year of relevant experience
  • Experience in Exploration evaluation or New Ventures.
  • Broad geoscience knowledge, with experience in both geophysics and geology.
  • Experienced with both exploration and development upstream oil and gas activities
  • Relevant software experience, Landmark, Petrel and ArcGIS is preferred
  • Demonstrated strong experience in the following fields:
  • Prospect generation, evaluation and proposal
  • Well operations planning and delivery
  • Field appraisal and development including reservoir characterization
  • Regional and new venture evaluations
  • 3D Geological modelling skills, preferably in Petrel Software
  • Ability to work in cross-functional team environment
  • Track record in managing technical/ G&G team
  • Track record of deadline delivery and result oriented
