CommBank’s Financial Crime Operations (FCO) team is looking for an Executive Manager to join our FCO Strategy & Performance team, responsible for driving performance across Financial Crime Operations.Financial Crime Operations (FCO) is a team of 2000 Operations Professionals and leads the Group’s approach to managing Anti-Money Laundering, Counter Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) and Sanctions risks and obligations through the provision of operational services across the Customer Lifecycle. The Scope of work includes Onboarding and KYC, Enhanced Customer Due Diligence (ECDD), Ongoing Due Diligence including Transaction Monitoring (TM), Customer and Payment Screening and periodic KYC Refresh.The Strategy & Performance function is an enablement function supporting Financial Crime Operations to meet the performance and quality objectives set by the Group. S&P work in partnership with the FCO operational teams to set the strategic direction, define performance targets and operating model as well as provide core enablement functions including; governance, workforce optimisation, performance insights, strategic initiatives, change management, capability, communications, etc.The Role.
As the Executive Manager Governance & Strategic Initiatives you will be responsible for managing key governance rhythms across FCO as well as driving a portfolio of strategic initiatives delivering uplifts in quality and productivity across FCO.This would involve:

  • Ensuring FCO’s key governance rhythms are effective and fit for purpose – this includes the Financial Crime Operations Committee, working groups and other governance rhythm supporting key decision making and record keeping across FCO
  • Working with stakeholders across FCO to identify, size, design and deliver a portfolio improvement opportunities targeted at uplifting quality or improving productivity and timeliness.
  • Supporting the FCS LT to craft a compelling long-term vision for FCS defining with clarity the target state and level of ambition, convert this multi-year vision into annual goals, quarterly objectives and key results, to ensure activity across the portfolio is lined up against these, measure and manage performance.
  • Management of the FCO Quality Control function in line with regulatory commitments.

This highly visible role reports to the General Manager Strategy & Performance and works closely with the S&P LT but also the broader Financial Crime Services leadership group both in Australia and CBA India. Team size varies in line with commitments ~ 120 FTE.What will you need to succeed in this role.The success of the role will be reliant on the ability to rapidly:

  • Understand the FCO business and performance drivers and stakeholder expectations
  • Identify improvement opportunities to drive quality and/or productivity outcomes
  • Size, scope and deliver these improvement opportunities, engaging with the right stakeholders to deliver fit for purpose pragmatic change into the FCO Operational businesses
  • Manage monthly governance rhythms to support risk based decision making, transparency and record keeping
  • Lead the team to focus on the important and the urgent
