Job description: The German Swiss International School (GSIS) is one of Hong Kong’s leading international schools providing quality, holistic education to a multinational student body of approximately 1300 students and 240 faculty and staff. The school is organised into two Streams, German and English leading to qualifications in the German International Abitur and I/GCSE & IBDP respectively. We are inviting applications for the following position commencing in August 2025.The teacher will be required to teach throughout the English Secondary Department (Year 7-13), and to prepare students for the IGCSE examinations in both English Language and English Literature, as well as the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. The Teacher will be an excellent classroom practitioner who is dedicated to enabling each child to achieve the highest possible standards. At GSIS, our students demonstrate a high level of motivation and engagement in their learning, making them a joy to work with.What is required and what we’re looking for:

• Teaching qualification and relevant academic qualifications in the subject area
• Evidence of ongoing professional learning in subject specialism and pedagogy
• At least 3 years teaching experience is required
• Experience of the IB Diploma Programme in either English Literature and English Language and Literature is preferred.
• Candidates without such IB Diploma Experience should be able to demonstrate comparable experience in delivering similar courses with successful outcomes.
• Experience of teaching aspirational and high achieving students is preferred
• Ability to use a range of assessment strategies to determine student progress
• Capacity to enthusiastically contribute to the academic enrichment programme and/or extra-curricular activities programme.
• A willingness to contribute significantly to the administration and development of our highly successful debating programme is required. Candidates should explicitly outline their relevant experience with and/or ideas for this programme in their covering letter.
• Excellent English speaker with excellent written and oral communication skills
• Culturally sensitive, tolerant, collaborative and patient
• Positive, proactive and independent work ethic
• The successful candidate will demonstrate the aptitude for, and willingness to, take on curriculum leadership roles in the English faculty in future.
