What this job involves

  • Leadership and Management of the Engineering Team:
  • Guiding, training, and evaluating engineering team members.
  • Assigning project tasks and monitoring progress.
  • Ensuring team members comply with company policies and industry standards.
  • Project Management:
  • Participating in project planning, design, and execution.
  • Developing project budgets and timelines.
  • Monitoring project progress to ensure timely and on-budget completion.
  • Resolving technical issues and challenges that arise during projects.
  • Technical Support:
  • Providing technical guidance and support to team members.
  • Participating in the development and evaluation of technical solutions.
  • Researching and introducing new engineering technologies and methods.
  • Compliance and Safety:
  • Ensuring all engineering activities comply with relevant regulations and safety standards.
  • Overseeing the implementation of safety measures and preventing accidents.
  • Conducting risk assessments and developing emergency response plans.
  • Communication and Coordination:
  • Communicating and coordinating with clients, suppliers, and other departments.
  • Attending project meetings and reporting progress.
  • Establishing and maintaining good working relationships with external organizations.
  • Other Responsibilities:
  • Participating in the development of company strategic plans.
  • Conducting market research and competitive analysis.
  • Representing the company at industry events and conferences.

Interested? An ideal candidate would need to have the following qualifications

  • Education: A bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., civil, mechanical, electrical, chemical). A master’s degree in engineering or a related field is often preferred.
  • Experience: Significant experience in engineering, with progressive experience in project management and team leadership. Typically, 8-10+ years of relevant experience would be expected.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong technical knowledge in the relevant engineering field.
  • Proficiency in using engineering software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, simulation software).
  • Understanding of relevant codes, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Management and Leadership Skills:
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a team of engineers.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to delegate tasks effectively and provide constructive feedback.
  • Project Management Skills:
  • Experience in managing complex engineering projects from inception to completion.
  • Ability to develop and manage project budgets and schedules.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills:
  • Ability to analyze complex technical problems and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Certifications and Licenses:
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is often required or highly preferred.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification can be an advantage.
  • Other Important Qualities:
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new technologies and methods.
  • Strategic thinking and business acumen.
