Job description: Job Title: Emergency Planning and Business Continuity OfficerContract Type: Permanent (22 hours per week)OneTeam Band 7 £34,314 – £37,938 per annum22 hours pro rata £20,402.91 – £22,557.72(Starting salary dependent upon skills and qualifications, progression subject to satisfactory performance)Closing Date for accepting applications: 23rd March 2025Interview date: To be confirmedBrentwood Borough Council and Rochford District Council work in partnership and the Emergency Planning and Business Continuity Officer role will provide support to both organisations.About the role:Brentwood Borough Council and Rochford District Council operate as two Councils, but under the leadership of a single Corporate Leadership Team and a single Corporate Management Team. New OneTeam Emergency Planning and Business Continuity plans and processes have been developed to support these teams in their response to an emergency or disruption to their services.The key task for the post holder will be to develop and embed the new plans and processes including implementing a programme of training and exercises that has been drafted to support this. A significant aspect of the training programme will be the development of the Council[s] newly appointed Emergency Response Officers and the ongoing investment in this new group of Officers.As a seasoned Business Continuity professional you will be expected to review the Service Business Continuity Plans on a rolling yearly and will work with the service Corporate Managers to ensure plans are kept current and relevant.You will also be expected to work with partners in relation to specific risks and as part of the multi-agency work of the Essex Resilience Forum.The post has responsibility for ensuring relevant information is provided to support the Council[s] out of hours service, in particular that process amps and contact details are kept up to date and relevant. You will work with the Corporate Managers to ensure that correct information is available to enable the effective delivery of the out of hours service.We are seeking an experienced Emergency Planning Officer with a working knowledge of the Civil Contingencies Act and a good understanding of the part Local Authorities play in the response to a major incident.
