Job description: Reporting to the Operations Manager – Emergency Management, the Emergency Management Officer is responsible for assisting in building and sustaining organisational capacity to effectively respond to emergencies/disasters and system failures.Key Responsibilities

• Provide emergency management training to all hospital staff.
• Contribute to the development of Emergency Management (EM) and Business Continuity programs (BCP) to ensure an organisational capacity to be planned, prepared and able to respond to emergencies, disasters and system failures.
• Compile quality checks and distribute EM and BCP documentation across the key identified areas of the organisation.
• Provide comprehensive reports identifying good practice or organisational deficiencies in relation to emergency management/business continuity, including practical recommendations for further enhancement.
• Develop and deliver EM/BC training and education programs where required.
• Develop and conduct exercises to test the Emergency Departments capacity to manage chemical, biological and radiological incidents and other exercises as necessary to determine organisational capability and effectiveness.
• Conduct exercises to test Area Wardens’ capacity to manage incidents requiring evacuation, and reporting results to the relevant EPC’s

Essential Experience Criteria

• Relevant emergency/risk management experience or tertiary qualification.
• Experience in BCP testing and development
• Demonstrated practical application of emergency/risk management principles
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including capacity to build and maintain positive working relationships
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write formal policies, procedures, performance reports and promotional material
• Ability to develop and present quality EM and BCP education and training sessions
