Job description: Job Title: Electrical Systems ArchitectJob DescriptionOur client, a satellite communications company located in Toronto, is seeking an Electrical Systems Architect to own the end-to-end electrical architecture for satellite systems and other spacecraft buses. In this role, you will be responsible for establishing requirements, guiding sub-system teams, and leading critical reviews. You will interface with customers and represent electrical systems, while also mentoring and training intermediate to electrical designers and engineers.Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end electrical architecture for satellite systems and other spacecraft buses as required.
• Establish requirements for the electrical system, including flow down from mission objectives.
• Interface and guide the sub-system teams with respect to the needs of the overall system.
• Represent the electrical system to the systems/program teams.
• Lead the electrical aspects of critical reviews (PDR, CDR, etc.).
• Lead and evaluate trade studies.
• Interface with customers with respect to spacecraft bus design and represent our electrical systems.
• Present and defend the choices made to external stakeholders.
• Establish requirements for and evaluate COTS, space sub-systems, and components.
• Assist in sizing project teams and associated efforts for internal and external projects/programs.
• Assist in the establishment of internal electrical design processes and procedures.
• Assist in the debugging of system-level electrical issues.
• Mentor and train intermediate to electrical designers/engineers.
• Lead and participate in electrical design reviews (schematics + layout).

Essential Skills

• 10+ years of Electrical Hardware/Systems Design experience.
• 3+ years of Architecture experience.
• Experience with space systems or avionics systems.
• Proficiency in block level diagram creation.
• Experience with high-speed compute memory.
• Proficiency in Altium, FPGA, schematic, and layout design.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent field.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to create professional design standards and thorough design documentation.
• Experience leading complex technical projects from start to finish.
• Experience with designing electrical hardware for the space environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Strong understanding of designing rad-hard electrical systems for spaceflight.
• Experience with resource forecasting and assisting with program bidding.
• Familiarity with the usage of AI tools.
