The Financial Management Branch is responsible for supporting the department deliver for the veteran community by providing timely, accurate and informative financial support. The Branch has a range of core functions including:

  • Management reporting and Internal Budgets
  • External Financial Reporting
  • Financial Operations
  • Budget Estimates; and
  • Financial Policy and Compliance

The Financial Management Branch is going through a renewal process and is looking for staff to continue to support these changes and improvements in the way we operate. A key change is the implementation of new systems to support a modern and contemporary operating environment, with a new expense management and travel system being rolled out and a new FMIS planned to be implemented through 2024 and 2025.These system changes are supported by improvements to how we operate and deliver our services, with a view to provide not only reliable, timely and accurate financial support but looking to work with other key enabling areas to provide seamless services to the department.We are looking for high performers and exceptional leaders who not only want to apply their expertise, but who want to proactively influence change. As part of the senior Finance team, you will be responsible for influencing and developing strategies, policies, priorities and operational practices, building team capability and critically reviewing and improving practices.To be successful you will:

DutiesAs an EL2 – Director Management Accounting and Internal Budgets:

  • Deliver Management Reporting to the Departmental Executive and set the overarching management reporting framework in consultation with the CFO
  • Manage and deliver the Internal Budgets policy, process and build for both in year and forward year allocations
  • Provide Financial advice and support tailored to the unique requirements of DVA
  • Work with Finance Business Partner team to deliver timely and informative financial information to support decision making
  • Finance analytics and metrics
  • Budget Management System (TM1) and GUES system administration
  • Manage a team of up to eight staff to deliver the above outcomes.

Eligibility

  • Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
  • All applicants external to DVA offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a pre-engagement screening check, even if they have a security clearance. The screening check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
  • The successful candidate will be required obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance.
