The Role
EL 1 In-service support team lead will be responsible for oversight and management of critical IT Service Management functions including change, configuration, obsolescence and issues management. They will be required to lead a cross functional, integrated team of contractors, ADF and APS personnel to ensure the continuation of in-service, operationally critical systems. They will be responsible for uplifting ITSM process documentation, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the Branch.The EL1 Network engineer will be responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of current in-service networks. They are accountable under broad direction to perform and achieve very complex network design and network planning work within an integrated workforce (APS, ADF and Contractors).They will engage in very complex problem solving and issues management that impact on strategic, political or operational outcomes for Defence. They will be expected to provide technical leadership, troubleshoot complex issues and collaborate with various teams to ensure optimal network performance and security.About our Team
Within the Joint Capabilities Group (JCG), the Defence Strategic Communication Branch (DSCB) – Strategic Communication Sustainment & Coalition Interoperability (SCSCI) is a large and complex team tasked with providing efficient oversight, uplift and delivery of critical services serving the wider Australian Defence Force and our Coalition partners.Our Ideal Candidate
EL 1 In-Service Support Lead: The ideal candidate has strong leadership experience coupled with in-depth knowledge of Defence. They must have demonstrated experience working in large, complex ICT projects and Programs and in-depth knowledge of change management processes and procedures. They must demonstrate the ability to drive continuous improvement initiatives, excellent written and verbal communication skills. An understanding of ITIL best practices is desired.EL1 Network Engineer: The ideal candidate requires an in-depth understanding of network administration and architecture, communication protocols and network security. A knowledge of Defence and Defence legislation, policy and process is required. The candidate will need to hold a Bachelor’s degree in communication science, information technology or a related field. The candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and have the ability to lead a small team. Experience with network diagnostic and monitoring and analysis tools is desirable.
Expected salary: $120303 – 135701 per year
