Job title: DTU Tenure Track Researcher in X-Ray Nano-Computed Tomography for Dynamic Processes in Geological Media – DTU Physics
Company: Danmarks Tekniske Universitet
Job description: Job Description:At the at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), we offer a full-time tenure-track-researcher position within the group ”Materials Physics in Space and Time” ( ), on the development of in-situ nano-computed tomography (nano-CT). The expected start date is May 2025, and the position will be hosted within the 3D Imaging Center ( ).The position aims to develop an experimental approach for the study of subsurface processes via in-situ nano-CT. The major focus is on geological chalk matrices and the dynamic processes occurring during CO2 injection for storage. These encompass chalk phase dissolution, due to acidification, as well as the distribution, movement and evolution of the liquid CO2 phase within the water saturated pore space. The experiments will need to be carried out at cutting-edge synchrotron facilities, earned through standard proposals. The position is full-time, based at the DTU Lyngby campus, north of Copenhagen.Responsibilities and qualifications
A key step in achieving effective climate change mitigation by atmospheric CO2 reduction is effective subsurface storage, an area in which Denmark aims to become a front runner. A primary example is storage in the former oil reservoirs, made of chalk, in the Danish North Sea. A prerequisite for efficient and lasting storage is an understanding of the evolution and dynamics of the involved phases in nano-porous chalk networks, which can be unraveled by 3D and 4D imaging at the nano resolution. We hence seek a strong candidate with experience in one or more of the following research areas:
We seek candidates with a high potential for creative and independent research, willingness to collaborate and interact with other researchers and to disseminate research in seminars, conferences and in the classrooms. As part of your activities, you are expected to:
The position requires a unique set of interdisciplinary academic expertise along with technical and training skills to establish this new research area. You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:
You must contribute to the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both.As formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent). You will be assessed against the responsibilities and qualifications stated above and the following general criteria:
What we offer
We offer a rewarding and challenging job in an international and highly motivated research environment. The 3D Imaging Center operates a number of laboratory CT machines and is involved in a plethora of research areas. We have excellent opportunities for collaboration within the department and across DTU departments, such as DTU Compute and DOTC, and offer a competent high-performance computing (HPC) environment.Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The position is part of DTU’s Tenure Track program.
