Are you excited about working together with Education Professionals to build ongoing support within schools and districts to sustain positive change?The Southern Regional Education Board is seeking a Director of State & District Partnerships for our Office of School Improvement to be responsible for designing, negotiating, supervising, and leading school improvement work and provide high quality services for each school district. The Director of State & District Partnerships develops and manages School Improvement programs and services, oversees staff performance, responds to requests for proposals (RFPs), and collaborates with stakeholders to improve school and district outcomes. This role is essential for expanding the reach of SREB initiatives and ensuring the delivery of high-quality support.SREB is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization based in Atlanta. We are an organization of professionals committed to our mission: helping states and educators improve the social and economic vitality of the SREB region. SREB works with states to improve education at every level, from pre-K through Ph.D. Our vision is that all students in the SREB region will have high-quality educational opportunities that build on the rich diversity of the region and lead to productive, meaningful lives and robust economies.What does a Director of State & District Partnerships do?

• Collaborates with school and district leaders to propose and expand SREB support programs.
• Develops, manages, and negotiates proposals and contracts including responding to RFPs, developing scope of work, timelines, deliverables, and progress monitoring of the services delivered.
• Manages and directs the activities of assigned staff; coordinates, prioritizes, and assigns tasks and projects; tracks and reviews work progress and activities; directs the recruitment and selection of staff; undertakes disciplinary action as required; conducts performance evaluations.
• Communicates and collaborates with existing and prospective customers to plan and propose SREB support.
• Develops and reviews training material, plans of support, coaching support, and other services for various national, state, district, and school events.
• Collaborates with SREB staff on the spread and development of new and existing programs; approaches schools and districts to consider adopting these new curricula.
• Provides counsel and technical assistance to coaches as they collaborate with schools, districts, and state.
• Assures the quality of services by developing and reviewing protocols for documenting progress and communicating with customers.
• Provides school, district, state, or national professional development based on the needs of the recipients.
• Represents the organization with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public.

What does it take to be a Director of State & District Partnerships? Master’s degree in education or a related field; AND four (4) years of teaching experience, two (2) years of which were in a leadership role; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.For this opportunity, we seek candidates who have the following attributes:

• Preparing clear and concise reports, correspondence, and other written materials.
• State, and federal laws, statutes, ordinances related to department programs and activities.
• Principles and practices of budget development and administration.
• Records management principles and practices.
• Techniques for dealing with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds, in person and over the telephone, occasionally where relations may be confrontational or strained.
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of the work.
• Principles and techniques of making effective oral presentations.
• Respect for inclusivity, demonstrating a commitment to equality and fairness.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment as well as a face-to-face environment.
• Successful completion of background investigation and drug screening.
• Located in the eastern side of the SREB region.
• Candidates should be located near a major airport.
• Ability to travel overnight (work is subject to extended travel)
• Driver’s license.
• Current or previously held teaching certificate.
• Mobility to work in typical office setting and use standard office equipment; stamina to sit for extended periods of time; strength to lift and carry up to 20 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position manages all assigned staff and is responsible for performance management, hiring and termination of staff.Compensation
To support SREB’s top priorities, compensation decisions balance internal equity and external competitiveness within the boundaries of financial feasibility. Salaries for new employees will be established at levels that recognize the individual’s skills and experience while considering the salary levels of current employees within the same job title and those performing comparable work within the parameters of discipline, function, and individual effectiveness.Starting Salary: $106,239 – 119,519
