With the enactment of the Water Act 2007, the MDBA was established as an independent expertise-based statutory agency.The MDBA aims to achieve a healthy working Basin for the benefit of all Australians. The Murray-Darling Basin contains a rich diversity of natural environments that are unique in Australia and the world. The Basin is also crucial to Australia’s economy and home to 2.3 million Australians, including people from over 50 First Nations. How we manage the Basin as a whole connected system, manage our water carefully, and protect it for future generations is set out in the .Your key responsibilities in this role are to:

• Lead hydrologic modelling and provide specialist advice for key Basin programs, including the Basin Plan Review and Sustainable Yields study and provide advice on other projects across the MDBA as required.
• Operational knowledge of hydrological or hydraulic models used for river system modelling in Murray-Darling Basin.
• Collaborate with Basin jurisdictions to undertake joint project work.
• Manage and undertake technical studies for assessing impacts of policy options and river systems operations on water users in the system.
• Software development and upgrading of existing software to enable new water resource management options and policies to be examined.
• Development of reports, technical manuals and the presentation and communication of results and analysis in formats suitable for a range of audiences including: Project Boards, technical working groups, community reference panels, river operators and the general public.
• Contribute and work as part of multidisciplinary project teams from various divisions and functions in the Authority.
• Mentor staff in skills of data analysis, river system modelling and other water management issues in the Murray-Darling system.
