Whether you are just starting your career, re-entering the workforce, or looking for a new job, this is where you belong.Role Mandate:The Director will work very closely with the Senior Director of Joe Fresh & Optical Finance and additional senior members of the Joe Fresh & Optical management teams, including the President. The Director will lead high-level financial analyses to support strategic and operational business functions. Key components of this role will include coordinating special projects, managing Divisional and National financial analyses, as well as formalizing and standardizing analysis requirements and approaches with multiple business units throughout Joe Fresh, Optical and the larger Loblaw Companies Limited organization.Accountabilities:

  • Manage the preparation of in-depth financial analyses and provide key insights to executive members of management.
  • Work closely with the Senior Director in the preparation of senior management presentations and high-level competitor analyses.
  • Coordinate special ad-hoc projects and analyses for the management team and related business units as required.
  • Partner with the various Loblaw Companies Limited Finance teams to forecast and project the overall financial impact of changing trends and initiatives within the retail industry.
  • Partner with retail operations to provide financial expertise and identify strategic business opportunities.
  • Deliver proactive recommendations to executive management for potential business and cost-saving opportunities within the retail organization.
  • Recommend direction for continuous improvement in all financial support areas (i.e. financial processes, reporting, budgeting, etc).
  • Liaise with various departments in identifying, reporting, and forecasting financial and operational process improvement opportunities.
  • Build departmental budgets for all functioning business units within Joe Fresh and meet regularly with members of executive management to maintain accountability.
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
  • Ensure that the control and reporting approach reflects the current scale, scope and future growth objectives of the business.
  • Determine how to best organize and report data to optimize management reporting.
  • Establish and continually update retail financial systems to meet the growing requirements of the business.
  • Responsible for managing and coaching direct reports.

Role Requirements:

  • Minimum 4-6 years previous experience in a related role.
  • Strong business acumen, with an ability to focus on continuous improvement.
  • Self-starter who works well in a team, as well as with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Quality driven and detail oriented.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and conceptual skills; can see the “big picture” in a complex environment.
  • Proficient with Excel and Power Point, and experience in financial modeling.
  • Proficiency with SAP and Hyperion Financial Management would be an asset.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation would be an asset.
