Agency DescriptionThe City of Philadelphia Law Department acts as general counsel for the entire City government structure. We provide legal advice to all City officials, employees, departments, agencies, boards, and commissions concerning any matters related to the exercise of their official powers.The Law Department’s civil practice includes unique issues involving public interest in business, health, safety, commerce, civil rights, taxation, and community development. Job DescriptionThe City of Philadelphia Law Department seeks an attorney for the Compliance and Legislation Group’s Compliance Unit. This is an intermediate, non-litigation position that involves providing counsel to DHS, other Office of Children and Families divisions, the Office of Youth Ombudsperson, and potentially other social service/health departments. At the time of hire, applicants must be members of the Pennsylvania Bar. The ideal candidate has 3-7 years of experience, good academic credentials and strong communication, analytical, research and writing skills, and child welfare and/or public policy experience.Essential FunctionsResponsibilities include, but are not limited to:
