Job description: Our client, QuatZ Technologies, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Database Administrator to join their growing team full-time. Located in Point Cook, Victoria, QuatZ Technologies is a leading provider of custom web and cloud-based solutions, delivering innovative, high-performance technologies that support the evolving needs of a diverse client base.The Database Administrator will plan, develop, configure, maintain, and support an organisation’s database management system in accordance with user requirements, ensuring optimal database integrity, security, backup, reliability, and performance.The annual salary for this position is $85,000 to $100,000, including superannuation.Tasks include:

• Administered Oracle databases across development and production environments throughout the software lifecycle.

• Designed and developed logical and physical database architectures based on customer requirements and best practices.

• Performed comprehensive database administration tasks, including installation, builds, upgrades, object sizing and creation, user management, backups and recovery, patching, monitoring, data migration (export/import), and SQL Loader operations.

• Managed ASM storage, including diskgroup creation, diskgroup rebalancing, migrations, and alterations.

• Implemented and configured Oracle Data Guard Broker, including validating and testing various failover and switchover scenarios for disaster recovery.

• Collaborated with external clients and internal service delivery teams to gather and validate new technical requirements.

• Created Business Requirement Documents (BRDs), High-Level Design (HLD), and Low-Level Design (LLD) documents to support implementation efforts.

• Investigated and resolved database-related issues reported by customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.

• Conducted regular strategic analysis of database infrastructure, providing recommendations for improvements and capacity planning to meet evolving business needs.

• Installed, configured, and upgraded Oracle databases in standalone and Real Application Clusters (RAC) environments.

• Implemented high availability solutions using Oracle RAC and disaster recovery setups using Oracle Data Guard with standby databases.

• Scheduled schema migrations using traditional export/import methods and Oracle Data Pump utilities.

• Executed cross-platform migrations to support business transitions and platform modernisation.

• Generated and analysed Oracle AWR (Automatic Workload Repository) and ADDM (Automatic Database Diagnostic Monitor) reports for performance tuning and diagnostics.

• Monitored data backup processes and executed recovery procedures as required.

• Researched and documented potential risks and issues impacting production database infrastructure.

• Developed automation scripts for recurring tasks, process optimisation, and database performance monitoring.

Qualifications:

• Must possess eight to ten (8-10) years of work experience as a Database Administrator or in a similar role.

• Should hold a degree or postgraduate qualification in IT, Computer Science, or Software Engineering.
