The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is looking to fill the positions Data Collection Methodologists (APS5), Data Collection Design Centre (DCDC) within Data Sourcing Division. DCDC focuses on shaping how the ABS engages respondents in business and household surveys, to provide an effective, low burden respondent experience that reduces operational costs, maximises self-enumeration and reduces follow-up work.About the roleIn this role you will work with a team of experts to deliver DCDC’s applied research program. This will involve:
- Applying human-centred, evidence-based design by assisting with the design, conduct, analysis, and interpretation of DCDC experiments and associated quantitative and qualitative research projects.
- Entering and/or analysing data to help form recommendations for improvements to the respondent experience and/or operational efficiencies.
- Supporting the implementation of data sourcing strategies and approaches, particularly those arising from the research program.
- Drafting content of respondent materials and associated touch points to ensure a contemporary and holistic data provider experience.
- Manage provider queries including complaints and exemption requests as they’re received by the business.

- Experience in human-centred design, quantitative and/or qualitative research methods, questionnaire design, cognitive interviewing, data analysis, data visualisation or similar activities
