Inland Rail is transforming how goods are moved around Australia, connecting Melbourne and Brisbane via regional Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland. This 1,600km fast freight backbone will complete our national freight network – better connecting producers to markets and creating new opportunities for regional businesses, industries and communities.The Illabo to Stockinbingal project is about 39km of new rail corridor located within the local government areas of Junee and Cootamundra-Gundagai. It will provide a direct route from east of Illabo, tracking north to Stockinbingal and connecting into the existing Forbes rail line.What is needed?
We are currently seeking experienced Cost Planners to join our I2S project. The role is based in our Mascot project office, with the expectation to travel to site as needed.Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage comprehensive project budgets, ensuring financial objectives are met.
  • Continuously monitor and report on project costs, providing insights and forecasts.
  • Collaborate with project teams to devise cost-effective planning strategies.
  • Analyse financial data to identify trends and recommend cost-saving solutions.
  • Maintain accurate cost records and documentation throughout project lifecycles.
  • Utilize advanced cost planning tools and software for efficient management.
  • Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and stakeholders to negotiate favourable terms.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies in financial reporting.
  • Drive the implementation of best practices in cost management processes.
  • Participate in project review meetings to present cost performance updates.
  • Interpret drawings, specifications, briefs, scopes, and standards and assess their impact on project costs.

Experience:

  • Tertiary or Trade Qualifications in Construction, Engineering, Science, Quantity Surveying and/or Project/Construction Management
  • Demonstrated experience within either head contractor or consultancy on infrastructure projects
  • Strong measurement skills and exposure to estimating packages
  • Experience on complex Rail/Infrastructure projects
