If you are passionate about governance and eager to make a significant impact, we would love to hear from you!Key Responsibilities:Support to Chair and NEDs: The Corporate Governance Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the Chair and NEDs in their day-to-day duties.Governance and Compliance:You will be responsible for maintaining and interpreting the Trust Constitution, advising on national guidance, and supporting the implementation of best practice governance standards. This includes ensuring compliance with the Health and Social Care Act 2012, NHS England guidance, and the NHS Foundation Trust Code of GovernanceCouncil of Governors: The role involves advising the Council of Governors and its committees on governance matters, ensuring meetings are conducted in line with the Trust’s regulatory framework, and providing professional advice and support to enable governors to carry out their statutory duties effectivelyStakeholder Engagement: Building and maintaining strong relationships with key external stakeholders is a key part of this role.Main duties of the jobThe Corporate Governance Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring robust and effective governance across the Trust. This position provides essential support to the Chair and Non-Executive Directors (NEDs), ensuring they are well-briefed and have timely access to relevant information. Key responsibilities include:Council of Governors: Advise the Council of Governors and its committees on governance matters, ensuring meetings are conducted in line with the Trust’s regulatory framework. Support governors in fulfilling their responsibilities, including induction, training, and development planStakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders. Work closely with the Communications Team to ensure consistent and aligned messaging to stakeholders on key issueTeam Leadership: Line manage and support the development of Governance Officers and the Membership Officer. Ensure effective support is provided to the Chair and NEDs, with clear prioritisation of workload and timely delivery of outputsThis role requires a highly organized and proactive individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage complex and high-volume workloads.   • Experience of working within a Foundation Trust Governance setting, demonstrating insight into codes of governance and legislation applicable to NHS Trusts and FTs, preferably in a mental health trust
  • Ability to identify significant issues, being astute at identifying political sensitivities and emerging threats and opportunities
  • Experience of managing change in a complex and politically sensitive environment Experience of working with service users/carers, patient and public involvement in the NHS

Desirable

  • Experience of dealing and responding to emergency situations

  • Ability to assimilate and understand the work of the Trust, its policy context, operational issues and challenges.
  • Ability to think strategically, interpreting national guidance and producing corporate strategies and plans for the Trust
  • Ability to review and effectively utilise relevant legislation and interpret for others to follow
  • Excellent oral, written and presentation skills, including ability to convey highly complex information and difficult messages with tack, sensitivity and diplomacy to a range of individuals and organisations, where persuasive and motivational skills are required and where there are significant barriers to understanding
