Why not see where we can go?Job DescriptionTAL’s Legal team partners with people across the business and external counsel, external partners, regulators, and industry bodies to ensure TAL meets its regulatory and legal obligations. We have a permanent opportunity available to join our Litigation and External Disputes Resolution team as Corporate Counsel.This is an ideal role to broaden and grow your financial services experience in a flexible work environment. You will enjoy being part of a supportive and collaborative in-house legal team, working for one of Australia’s leading life insurers.In this role you will:

• Manage external disputes lodged with the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) and other external complaints bodies
• Manage litigated matters through external lawyers
• Provide advice and support primarily to the claims and underwriting teams and other business units as required
• Deliver training to the claims and underwriting teams
• Provide advice and support to risk and compliance in relation to the Life Insurance Code of Practice
• Offer advice and support to the Internal Dispute Resolution team
• Support our broader legal team in reviewing product documentation and other commercial documents

Qualifications

• Admitted to practise Law in Australia, with a minimum of 3 years post qualification experience
• Experience working within financial services, ideally with a knowledge of life insurance law
• Highly organised and detail orientated
• A team player
