Job description: Our client, an established and growing pharmaceutical company, has an immediate opportunity for a Corporate Controller to join their team for a 14-month contract! Reporting to the CFO, this position leads a small team and will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the finance function. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in accounting using an ERP, combined with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Benefits of working for our client:

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and review accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP
• Coordinate year-end audits and work with external auditors to ensure timely and efficient audits according to ASPE in Canada and US GAAP
• Manage company cash flow
• Maintain existing internal controls that safeguard companies assets and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
• Ensure compliance with tax laws, corporate governance requirements, and accounting standards; overseeing the timely preparation and filing of tax returns
• Support the budgeting process, monitor and analyze financial performance against budget
• Lead and mentor a team of Accounting Assistants, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
• Optimize the use of ERP (Microsoft Dynamics NAV) and integration with other applications ensuring efficiency and accuracy

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. CPA designation is required
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Controller with proven leadership ability
• Strong knowledge of APSE and US GAAP accounting principles and financial reporting standards
• Proficiency with financial software and ERP systems is required, experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV is highly preferred
• Candidates must possess excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• High attention to detail and a proactive, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving will ensure success in this position
