Grant Thornton Ireland operates on an all-island basis with offices in Dublin, Cork, Belfast, Limerick and Galway. The successful candidate will work as part of the Cork Tax Team based out of our new offices at Penrose but will also be fully integrated into our national tax practice.Our client base ranges from sole traders and small and medium sized businesses to high net worth individuals, trusts, partnerships, large corporates and listed companies.Our Tax advisory services team works across a range of routine tax compliance work to high end innovative tax planning solutions, covering all tax heads, such as business, corporate or personal tax, VAT, stamp duty, customs, Financial Services (FS), international tax, Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), Intellectual Property (IP), relevant contracts, Research and Development (R&D) and revenue audits and/or investigations.For more information check outAn exciting opportunity has arisen for an Associate Director to work in our Cork Tax practice advising a wide variety of indigenous and international clients across diverse sectors on local and international tax matters as the ever changing need to remain tax compliant continues at pace.As a member of our team, you will be joining a high performance innovative team operating within a flexible and hybrid work environment fostering new ways of working in a collaborative team culture.Excellent opportunities exist for ambitious and driven candidates to progress within the firm. Grant Thornton has ambitious plans to grow its business in the Cork market and nationally and the successful candidate will have strong opportunity to accelerate their career progression.ResponsibilitiesProactively managing a portfolio of corporate and income tax clients including taking responsibility for financial management of client accounts.Building a rapport with clients and developing a clear and detailed understanding of their business and expectations.Act as the focal point for the delivery of sophisticated tax advice to clients demonstrating an ability to analyse and interpret data, identifying business issues and applying technical knowledge appropriately.Write high quality tax reports, professionally presented documents.Consults on a variety of technical areas, including the ability to identify those able to provide support in relation to technical risk.Proactively seeks out business development opportunities and meets own financial targets including opportunities for other business units within Tax and Grant Thornton generally.Participates in the tendering process for new client pitches including developing personalised proposals for each potential client.A sound awareness and adherence to the firm’s risk management processes and procedures.Leads, manages, motivates and coaches managers and junior team members by inducting effectively, giving regular feedback and completing timely appraisals.Proactively manages own career, seeking out opportunities to work on a variety of assignments to build on existing experience; andDemonstrate an understanding of the full range of the firm’s products, services and capabilities and seeks to participate in business development activities and contributes to sales pitches, for own team as well as the wider firm.Skills and attributes:CTA qualified or equivalent.minimum 4+ years’ post qualification experience of working in a tax department.experience in advising on tax aspects of transactions including corporate reorganisations and business transfers (reviews of step plans/SPAs/sales/warranties and indemnities etc.)strong technical knowledge including a thorough knowledge of personal, corporate and capital taxes and relevant legislation.good knowledge of the local and national business environment.ambitious and want to pursue a career in practice.proven ability to identify opportunities for clients.capable of working on your own initiative.ability to build trusted relationships with clients and the team.strong interpersonal skills are essential together with proven people development skills to support the development of the more junior staff;strong attention to detail.Equity, diversity and inclusionAt Grant Thornton, we provide equitable opportunities for all our colleagues.
