Providing midwifery care to women in South Canterbury, the unit sees around 500 births per year, ranging from normal and low-risk to complex and high-needs.The unit was recently refurbished and is now a modern purpose-built space for mothers, babies and whanau and for the staff that work in the unit.The Day Assessment Unit midwife role is varied and exciting and its purpose is to provide care for women with conditions that require additional monitoring, infusions, as well as providing midwifery care for those who cannot access an LMC in the community. Other additional duties upon direction includes working on the ward when it is busy and time in theatre with elective caesareans.The role is well well-supported by all staff who value a collaborative team-based approach working closely to make sure our mothers and babies get the best outcomes, and that our work environment is the best you could wish for.About youYou must be Registered Midwife with a New Zealand practising certificate and have core midwifery experience plus the right to work in New Zealand.Working at Health New ZealandHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is ‘the weaving of wellness’.
