Salary Range: Salary range at $66,100 – $82,600, based on a 35-hour work week. Salary for this position will be commensurate with each individual’s education and/or experience as it relates to the position.

Together, we conserve and restore some of the most valuable and threatened landscapes on the planet.What you will doDUC and Nutrien are interested in seeing farmers and the agriculture industry benefit from producing ecological goods and services on farms. This includes identifying areas where farmers can make production system changes that directly benefit their business while improving the environmental performance of their land.The Agricultural Specialist will lead the conservation agronomy efforts that align with Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) and Nutrien’s business goals. And will also work to understand the impacts of beneficial management practices and support farmers in converting marginal, cropped lands to conservation uses that support biodiversity and other environmental outcomes.Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Executing conservation agronomy-related opportunities for DUC and Nutrien.
  • Supporting ongoing DUC projects in the conservation agronomy space.
  • Spending time with the DUC and Nutrien teams to learn about the business on both sides and find opportunities for further collaboration.
  • Working with Nutrien retails to promote the economics and theory behind sustainable intensification of the agricultural landscape.
  • Developing and pursuing opportunities to grow interest and understanding of the value of forages.
  • Representing DUC at agriculture industry events and meetings.
  • Understanding landscape-level challenges and the issues facing individual producers to provide opportunities to advance conservation agronomy.

Requirements

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience working within the agricultural industry.
  • Bachelor of Science in Agriculture or related field.
  • Considerable knowledge of agricultural practices across Prairie Canada.
  • Understanding of forage establishment in marginal areas/adverse growing conditions.
  • Experience delivering presentations to diverse audiences.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong negotiation and communication skills
  • A valid Canadian driver’s license is required
  • Ability to travel within Canada on a monthly basis.

  • Previous sales experience.
  • A background in crop production.
