It is therefore essential that we provide excellent customer service and communication to reach all those individuals and organisations our projects touch.Join our Power Transmission & Distribution team as a Community Stakeholder Manager and be part of our legacy!This job role will be based in Fort Augustus, with an expectation that this role will travel between Fort Augustus and Skye to attend relevant meetings. There will be an expectation this this role will attend monthly meetings and client meetings in the main Balfour Beatty office (Maxim Park) and the Client meetings at their head offices (Glasgow/ Perth/ Inverness) where required.What you’ll be doingYou’ll be a self-starter who is happy to be site based, working alongside fantastic project teams and supporting our customer, Scottish and Southern Electricity Network (SSEN), to play an important role in the Skye Reinforcement Project that will ensure the supply of secure, clean electricity to thousands of homes and businesses across the Hebrides and West Highlands.Day to day you will build and maintain relationships with project stakeholders, both internal and external, to deliver exceptional communication outputs that protect and promote our reputation and lead the development & delivery of the Skye Reinforcement Project’s Community Engagement Strategy and Commitments.The scope of this role includes, but is not limited to, the duties described below:

  • Proactively establish and maintain effective two-way relationships at the outset of a project
  • Develop and instigate engagement plans aligned to the requirements of the local community, landowners and the contractual requirement
  • Collaborate with our customers to produce and compelling and informative collateral for use across numerous channels
  • Organise and deliver community meetings, visits and community initiatives
  • Act as point of contact for Considerate Constructors Scheme
  • Undertake stakeholder mapping to help identify key audiences and work with our Public Affairs team to prioritise project’s political stakeholders
  • Work in partnership with our customers to develop strategies and plans to effectively engage with diverse stakeholder groups who we may impact on during the project.
  • Supporting the delivery of an effective community engagement strategy to target audiences.
  • Working with the project team to identify potential risks and deliver mitigation plans through effective communications with relevant stakeholders.
  • Supporting the creation and delivery of proactive community engagement activity, including for example letters, e-mails, notifications, posters, hoardings, signage etc to internal, external and customer stakeholders. This will include informing landowners where access is required.
  • Coordinating and participating in project led community relations events – including public exhibitions, community meetings and community liaison working groups
  • Working closely with Balfour Beatty Group communications team to talk positively about project successes and key milestones, sharing content that can be published across corporate channels
  • Coordinating project related employee recognition activities to highlight positive customer accolades, behaviours and achievement of operational milestones

Who we’re looking forEssential:

  • Experience in communications, community relations, stakeholder management or a related field.
  • Confident engaging with external customers and stakeholders face-to-face.
  • Excellent writing, storytelling, and presentation skills.
  • Able to interpret technical information from a variety of sources and translate into simple and engaging written communications.
  • Team player with ability to influence, negotiate and adapt positively to changing stakeholder demands.
  • A self-starter with strong organisation skills and the ability to manage conflicting deadlines.
  • Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office365 applications.
  • Full UK driving licence with company car provided

Desirable:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent higher education/industry recognised qualification in communications, community relations, stakeholder management or a related field.
  • Member of CIPR, IOIC, CIM or other recognised industry body.
  • Experience of working on construction/civil engineering infrastructure projects.
  • Good understanding of the regulatory environment in construction / power transmission sector.
