Join CFA as a Community-based Bushfire Management (CBBM) Facilitator and play a key role in delivering a community-centred, place-based solutions approach to local bushfire challenges in CFA’s North-West District 2.In this dynamic role, you’ll apply community development principles to bushfire risk reduction—building relationships between communities, fire agencies and local governments, empowering communities to participate in bushfire management and drive action at the local level.The role is part of the regional Community Safety team and contributes to the broader state-based, multi-agency Community First program, aligned with Victoria’s Bushfire Management Strategy.Using a strengths-based approach, you will facilitate collaboration across agencies and communities to build shared understanding, strengthen community adaptive capacity and integrate community-based activities as part of regional planning. You will cultivate strong place-based partnerships, and implement inclusive, evidence-based practices that support community-based outcomes.Join us in making a significant contribution to state-wide knowledge, learning, and continuous improvement in community-centred preparedness, and in supporting safer, stronger, more connected communities at risk of bushfire.Requirements:

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends to engage with volunteers and community groups.
• Some regional travel is required (a CFA vehicle is provided).
• A current driver’s licence is essential.

• Tertiary qualifications in social science/community development, and/or 3+years equivalent experience in community development and place-based approaches.
• Demonstrated understanding and application of evidence-based community development, disaster resilience approaches, and community engagement practices and principles.
• Capacity to design, enable and facilitate strengths-based, community-centred practice that encourages collaborative learning and innovation with communities and relevant stakeholders.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to form and maintain genuine relationships and partnerships to build trust and work collaboratively on community-centred projects.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with substantial experience using various facilitation methods to exchange ideas, insights and impact in face-to-face and virtual environments.
• Demonstrated skills in managing time, setting priorities, planning and reporting to achieve specific and set objectives.
