Job description: An established insurance broker seeks a detail-oriented and strategic Commercial Underwriting Manager to lead their Specialty Products team. This role is integral in driving the success of product offerings through meticulous portfolio management, strategic planning, and strong relationship management with key business partners.The Role:Reporting to the Portfolio Director, this role will play a pivotal role in executing the strategic plan for Specialty products, ensuring that objectives are met and the portfolio continues to grow. This position involves continuous monitoring of product performance, identifying areas for improvement, and expanding product offerings to maximize revenue opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a strong grasp of insurance products and market conditions, along with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with brokers, insurers, and other key stakeholders.Key Responsibilities:Product Management: Assist in the implementation of strategic initiatives for Specialty products. Continuously review product performance, pricing competitiveness, and market trends. Identify and develop new areas for product expansion.Client & Key Relationship Management: Maintain and enhance relationships with business partners, including insurers and brokers. Support the Portfolio team in product development, rate changes, and performance monitoring to ensure profitability and competitive edge.Team Leadership: Work closely with Specialty trading units and the Portfolio team to ensure seamless execution of underwriting strategies. Handle referral cases from trading teams, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines.Compliance: Ensure compliance with management audit requirements and collaborate with Sales, Operations, and Compliance teams to maintain high standards in file record quality.About You:Qualifications: APA qualification is essential, with strong knowledge of insurance products and market dynamics.Skills: Confident with numbers and performance metrics, you possess excellent commercial awareness and can identify growth opportunities. Strong communication and influencing skills are a must, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.Personal Attributes: A proactive problem-solver with a can-do attitude, and people leadership skills, you thrive in a team environment and are committed to continuous professional development.
