We develop and manage a variety of business data and dashboards that empower our client-facing teams to operate more accurately.Job DescriptionWhat will your typical day look like?This client-facing position within our national Finance team supports the Technology & Transformation (T&T) business unit. Your key responsibilities will include preparing and reporting management accounts, modelling complex commercial constructs for client projects, perform complex client engagement billing reconciliations and provide strategic financial support to the Technology and Transformation leadership team.In this role, you can expect to:
- Serve as the finance manager for project teams, delivering innovative and insightful analysis to support commercial decisions Build system and business knowledge to ensure appropriate business outcomes can be achieved.
- Provide comprehensive upfront modelling, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for project-based activities.
- Track and control project milestones, manage expenditure, monitor financial risks and ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
- Apply revenue recognition principles accurately and ensure compliance with relevant internal policies.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for projects, regularly tracking and reporting on these metrics to drive performance improvements.
- Identify and implement process improvements in project accounting practices to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and financial control.
- Establish best practices with engagement teams on reconciliations, billing milestones and preparing executive updates for leaders.
- Perform duties on behalf of the T&T CFO & COO such as timesheet analytics, engagement rates reviews, monitoring Work in Progress provision and providing financial support to the wider T&T partner group.
- Conduct monthly account reviews, with a focus on large engagements and how they have impacted the monthly financials, with feedback on areas of concern.
- Assist with yearly planning, and quarterly forecasting updates.
- Regularly review and maintain client and engagement information to ensure accurate reporting.
- Manage client invoices, ensure timely billing, and resolve discrepancies.
- Verify time and expenses coded to projects.
- Deliver regular and adhoc reports accurately according to business requirements and specifications.
- Monitor project WIP balances to maintain the integrity of financials.
- Proactively reach out to relevant parties to highlight potential issues ahead of key dates (partner metrics, year-end, etc.).
- Manage commercial and financial risks.
- Take ownership of personal development and training, ensuring technical skills are maintained.
- Identify cross-skill opportunities that benefit personal career growth while helping the wider team.
- Use available training materials to upskill in development areas and increase knowledge and capability.
QualificationsEnough about us, let’s talk about you. You are someone with:
- Exceptional analytical skills including expertise with Microsoft Excel and ability to use ERPs (SAP, TM1 and PowerBI) to interpret complex financial data.
- Commercial insights with proven experience in commercial finance and project reconciliations.
- Superior and meticulous attention to detail levels and commitment to financial accuracy.
- CAANZ, CPA, AT, CIMA, or a similar accounting certification.
- Minimum of 1 year’s post-qualification experience (PQE).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and KPIs relevant to project accounting.
- People skills to build strong relationships with key stakeholders. Communicating effectively at all levels both verbally and in writing is essential for this role.
- Experience in using reporting suites.
- A collaborative team player mindset.
- Ability to prioritize workload to ensure deadlines are met.
- The skill to mentor and upskill junior members of the team.
- Confidence to take ownership and responsibility for areas, systems, and processes.
- Drive to learn and grow in an ever-changing environment.
