Job description: MOUNT AIRY POLICE DEPARTMENT
Currently hiring for the following positions:Code Enforcement Specialist & Property & Evidence Technician/QuartermasterCode Enforcement Specialist:
This is a non-sworn position within the Mount Airy Police Department that serves as primary Code Enforcement personnel for the Town of Mount Airy. Must have general computer skills and be proficient in word processing and spreadsheet applications. Position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to handle controversial issues and conflict resolution skills. Work independently and be a self-starter. Prior working knowledge of Municipal Code is highly preferred.Duties to include:
-Conduct all Town Code compliance and inspections.
-Issue municipal infraction citations, when appropriate, for violations of the Town Code.
-Respond to residents’ complaints.
-Transport departmental documents to County Courts, State’s Attorney’s offices and all other agencies as needed.
-Ability to work with other regulatory agencies to address Code issues within the Town limits.Property & Evidence Technician/Quartermaster:
This is a non-sworn position within the Mount Airy Police Department that performs law enforcement related duties associated with the care and custody of seized evidence, body worn camera technology and found property as well as quartermaster duties associated with operational/enforcement supplies and police uniforms and related duty gear for sworn and non-sworn personnel.Desired qualifications:
-Knowledge of principles and practices of office, equipment and evidence management.
-Previous law enforcement experience required.
-Must possess the ability to deal with the State’s Attorney’s office and other law enforcement agencies.
-Clear verbal and written communications skills are a must.
-Must be able to work independently, use discretion and operate with a high level of competence.
-Computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access.Each position is being offered as a part-time (24 hrs/week) position with the potential for full-time employment if candidates possess qualifications to fulfill duties in both positions. Both positions require the ability to successfully pass a comprehensive background check and polygraph exam.EOE
