Your hourly rate will be based on the year of study at school.Work Location: 97 Front St. (HYBRID)Contract: 12 months starting in May 2025Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.At Metrolinx, equity, diversity and inclusion are essential to living our values of serving with passion, thinking forward and playing as a team.As part of the Digital, Editorial, and Social (DES) teams, the Co-op Student, Digital Content will assist in the planning and delivery of content for our external and internal facing digital properties. You will report to the Manager, Editorial Content.What will I be doing?
- Helps with writing and publishing customer-first simple, clear and concise content across external channels (newsletters, emails, website, blogs) and internal employee communication channels using video and image assets
- Coordinate content workflow in our content management and operations toolbox ensuring all content is published across various internal and external channels (such as staff and community newsletters)
- Advocate for content standards, industry best practices, and ensure adherence to CP Style standards, brand guidelines, and follow SEO practices
- Utilizes web analytics tools and techniques to track, optimise and increase exposure of digital communications activities with understanding of digital customer journey
- Assist in the storage, organization, sharing and maintenance of digital assets within identified asset management solution/tool across DES team and beyond
- Helps with developing new content ideas that align with editorial strategy and determine robust distribution strategy
- Responsible for soliciting feedback, making revisions, and seeking approvals from experts and senior management teams
- Collaborates with all partners to build strong relationships and ensure effective communication and collaboration
- Help with the creation and delivery of presentations as needed
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Must be attending school full-time and returning to an academic institution
- Must be at least 15 years of age before starting employment
- Enrolled in Journalism, Communications, Marketing/Digital Marketing or similar program at a post-secondary institution
- Inherent passion and understanding of the art of visual and written storytelling
- Experience with structuring and editing content considered an asset
- Understanding of digital ecosystem such as content management systems, web publishing, web analytics tools, SEO, social media, or email marketing is considered an asset
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, along with excellent communication abilities
