Your hourly rate will be based on the year of study at school.Work Location: 20 Bay Street (Hybrid)Contract: 4 months starting in May 2025Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster, and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.At Metrolinx, equity, diversity and inclusion are essential to living our values of serving with passion, thinking forward and playing as a team.Our Finance – Capital Projects Group Operations team is looking for a CO-OP Student to assist with the operating budget and quarterly forecasting for Capital Projects Group. The CO-OP Student will work with internal stakeholders to provide analytical support, develop financial template and supporting assumptions for Annual Budget and Quarterly Forecasting and application of accounting principles. You will report to the Senior Manager, CPG Operating and RE & DEV Operating.What will I be doing?

• Support the Capital Project Group Operations team in tracking goals and measurements
• With support of the team, develop a Power BI dashboard tracking and visualizing goals and measurements
• Provide guidance to internal partners for appropriate accounting treatment and operating expense account
• Recommends improvements to existing processes and procedures to achieve greater efficiency
• Work with all partners to collect data, respond to queries and exchange information
• Aid in preparation of financial template and supporting assumptions for Annual Budget and Quarterly Forecasting of operating expenses Quarterly
• Learning about Public Sector Accounting Standards
• Developing large data management, and continuous improvement skills

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

• Must be attending school full-time and returning to an academic institution
• Must be at least 15 years of age before starting employment
• Enrolled in Accounting, Business or similar program at a post-secondary institution
• Interest in Financial Planning and Analysis or Public Sector Accounting
• Strong written, oral communication and interpersonal skills are required
• Ability to work with and assist other co-workers with various task projects
