Job description: We are looking for Experienced CNC machine operators for multiple roles in Canterbury! These roles require organized and trustworthy individuals. Quality workmanship is a must and something that you pride yourself on. You will need to be reliable and motivated.The jobs involve studying and understanding drawings and detailed specifications to determine the suitable material, method and sequence of operations, and machine settings to operate state-of-the-art CNC Machines. In particular, the jobs involve setting up, operating, and overseeing the operation of 3, 4, and 5 Axis Mill Turning Centres, Horizontal Machining Centres, and Horizontal borers, to produce high quality components from a range of materials. This includes precision measuring of components, setting guides, operating stops and controls on machine tools for precision cutting / pressing, and diagnosing faults and performing machinery maintenance.The normal duties to be performed comprise all activities related to preparation, setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC machines to perform variety of functions for production including but not limited to:Duties include:
- Reading and interpreting blueprints, work orders or mechanical drawings to determine specification and requirement of the task.
- Setting up the machine by translating instructions into computer commands for the machine to perform the correct function.
- Setting up and installing tools and attachments.
- Calculating, measuring, and verifying all dimension and requirements.
- Preparing and loading raw materials onto the machine.
- Operating CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, grinding, and milling.
- Doing a run-test to determine if the machine is in the correct specifications.
- Checking and maintaining machinery regularly to ensure functionality.
- Monitoring the machines while on operation and make any necessary adjustments to produce the desired results as per plan.
- Taking inventory by checking stocks and materials to determine what needs ordering.
- Documenting machine actions by completing machine logs and productions
- Keep the workspace, equipment & tools clean.
- Maintain health and safety requirements.
- All other duties as assigned.
Skills and experience required
- 3+ years relevant experience OR NZQA-recognised trade level qualification or a minimum of three years’ experience in CNC machine operation.
- A commitment to learning and developing your skills within the industry
- Fully aware and committed to complying with all Health and Safety requirements at all times.
- Reliable and hardworking
The rate of pay is between $33 and $39 per hour. The higher hourly rates are available for NZ or NZ-equivalent trade-qualified applicants. There are also overtime rates, meal monies, and other allowancesHours of work-Minimum of 30 hours of work is guaranteed.The jobs involve across the shifts listed below:7.00am – 3.30pm3.30pm – 11.30pm11.00pm – 7.00amA minimum of two weeks’ notice will be provided prior to any shifts being amended. There will also be the opportunity for occasional overtime, as dictated by production requirements.LocationThis role will be a permanent and full-time job based in Canterbury.
