Job description: Bioneer is continuously developing its business within low volume scale manufacturing of specialty proteins.If you would like to head our specialty CDMO unit of about 15 employees, including a Manufacturing head, CMC managers and technicians we have the right opportunity for you. We are looking for an experienced Chief CDMO Officer (CCO), who can manage the process of bringing a protein project from the R&D to the GMP manufacturing stage and final product release. The CCO will be or become a member of Bioneers management group.Founded in 1982, Bioneer is a not-for-profit organization located in the heart of Medicon Valley – a leading life sciences cluster in Northern Europe. Bioneer is owned by The Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and is one of 7 Research and Technology Organisations in Denmark (Danish RTOs). Bioneer plays a key role in advancing the life sciences ecosystem through cutting-edge technologies, deep expertise, and highly skilled personnel.About the positionReporting to Bioneer’s CEO you will collaborate with Bioneer’s top management, middle management as well as departments and employees as needed. You will work particularly closely with Bioneer’s Business Development department and Bioneer’s Recombinant Protein R&D department.You will also work closely together with the Head of Manufacturing and other CDMO academics, as well as technicians and Bioneer’s QA-function.Your primary stakeholders are clients from private companies.Your primary responsibilities will beThe CCO has the overall responsibility for Bioneer’s contract production unit (the small scale CDMO) and is overall responsible for:

• the strategic development of the unit
• the operations of the CDMO
• stakeholder management, including with current and future clients.
• writing/specifying the technical side of production contracts.
• developing budgets
• managing resources and monitor performance
• recruitments and people development
• conducts annual performance and development process interviews with employees.

About youYou have a relevant life science education like M.Sc. or PhD degree within e.g. protein chemistry, manufacturing or process technology.At least 5 – 8+ years of documented experience from a protein/biologics CMO. Our preferred candidate has:

• Proven experience in a leadership role within the biotech, pharmaceutical, or contract manufacturing industry.
• Strong knowledge and understanding at GMP-level of biologics manufacturing, recombinant proteins, and associated regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, EMA).
• Demonstrated success in developing and executing profitable manufacturing strategies, driving operational excellence, and achieving financial targets.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
• Sound business acumen and ability to make strategic decisions in a rapidly evolving industry.
• Track record of building and nurturing relationships with clients, partners, and industry stakeholders.
• Proficient in financial management, budgeting, and cost optimization.
• Strong problem-solving abilities, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
• Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., GMP) and industry best practices.
