If this describes you, we would love to invite you to join us!Chaplain – Seniors Communities – Castle HillPermanent Full TimeCastle HillProvide spiritual leadership and emotional support to residents, families, and staffAbout the role:Chaplaincy is a vital and expanding part of Anglicare, which demands intentionally evangelistic and pastorally orientated ministry.The purpose of the Chaplain is to provide spiritual leadership in the village, and to provide emotional support to the village community, firstly to residents, as well as their families and the staff.A healthy and thriving Chaplaincy ministry in the village is achieved through developing individual relationships with each resident and providing support according to their needs and preferences, while building trust and rapport with Village Management and staff.You will be responsible for preparing and conducting church services and providing one to one pastoral care to residents, their families and the staff within villages.Key responsibilities (not limited to):Provide a Christ centred pastoral approach and be an example of Christian livingSupport residents with their spiritual needs, facilitate their ongoing spiritual growth, enable non-Christian residents to explore the Christian faith and encourage Christian residents in their faith.Oversee the ministry of a part-time Pastoral CarerProvision of edifying Church services, one to one pastoral care, coordinating bible study groups and training leaders.When appropriate, provide pastoral support to the families of residentsWork collaboratively with other Chaplains, Pastoral Carers and Village Manager.From time to time organise evangelistic programs (such as Christianity Explored) and develop/deliver occasional courses/seminars to deal with key issues and special needs (e.g. bereavement, ageing).Develop strong relationships with local churches in the areaRequirements for success:Relevant Theological training essential; Ordained by – or Recognised Minister of the Archbishop of the Sydney Diocese of the Anglican ChurchAble to maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality and reliabilityA loyal, humble, teachable, generous, and servant hearted leader.Someone with good listening skills, a pastoral heart and an ability to teach the Scriptures clearlyDemonstrated ability to lead and work harmoniously with othersA willingness to be involved in an Anglican congregation/parish and proven record of experience in ministry and pastoral careA personal commitment to growth in the Christian faithCurrent valid driver’s licence and access to your own vehicleA current Working with Children Check clearanceBefore starting work with us, you will need to undertake or provide clearances for the following Checks: a Police Check, Working With Children Check, right to work check, qualifications and referee checks, along with a record of Covid vaccination certificate.BenefitsNot-for-profit salary packaging, in alignment with Sydney Anglican Clergy allowancesWork as part of a well-supported, structured TeamRegular professional supervisionEmployee Assistance Program provides free external and confidential counsellingTraining and Development – including full orientation training and Introduction to Pastoral Care Course & Advanced Pastoral Care CourseDiscounts on major retailers and everyday productsRewarding work – every day you know you’re making a real differenceTo be successful in this opportunity, you will be an active and keen Christian with formal theological qualifications coupled ideally with experience in pastoral care of seniors.
