In this role, you will contribute to world-leading cancer informatics initiatives, engage effectively with diverse stakeholders and groups, and help drive innovation in New Zealand’s healthcare IT sector.The Business Analyst, D&A, will support communications and technical planning between Te Aho o Te Kahu and a range of stakeholders including clinicians, Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora, and vendors. An important part of this role will be in the analysis, creating and maintaining a range of accessible and usable technical and project management materials detailing the plans, roadmaps, and work of the D&A Team, especially in relation to our core CanShare programme.We offer a supportive environment where you can grow both personally and professionally. Your wellbeing matters to us, and we provide a flexible working environment to promote a heatlhy work-life balance, alongside a range of other benefits.Key ResponsibilitiesThe Business Analyst will support the objects and outcomes of Te Aho o Te Kahu and the D&A Team, this role will include:

  • Documenting of technical requirements for the delivery of the CanShare national cancer informatics programme.
  • Liaising and effectively communicating with and between technical teams and business (e.g. cancer care provider) stakeholders.
  • Support the D&A Team and stakeholders to understand project scope and constraints.
  • Prepare business cases, plans, feasibility assessments, specifications, reports, and other documents as required.
  • Create and maintain documentation describing the development and delivery of the CanShare programme.
  • Work with project managers and coordinators to help identify and manage risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies etc related to the work of the D&A Team and the interdependencies of this work with the rest of the agency.
  • Where required, work as a team-member on other projects underway in the agency, in alignment with our matrix-management model of operation.
  • Participate fully with the range of agency activity (e.g. waiata practice, kaimahi days, Whāinga Amorangi activity, team development sessions) and be a positive and enthusiastic member of the agency.
  • Ensure all work reflects our Agency responsibilities to the priority of equity and meeting Te Tiriti obligations.
  • Build collaborative and positive relationships across Te Aho o Te Kahu, the Ministry of Health – Manatū Hauora, Health New Zealand – Te Whatu Ora, the wider health sector, our contracted partners, government, and other external stakeholders.

Ko pūkenga – What you’ll bring

  • An understanding of Māori tikanga and kawa and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Relevant professional business analytics and/or project management qualifications (e.g. IIBA, relevant certifications, PMP, PMI, PRINCE 2) and/or relevant expertise.
  • Experience in working in the health sector.
  • Knowledge of SNOMED CT and FHIR would be advantageous, but not essential.
  • An understanding of project-based requirements definition, analysis, specification, validation, and management practices and proven ability to apply these to a variety of project management frameworks and situations.
  • Proven ability to critically evaluate information and data gathered from multiple sources and translate these into an appropriate level of detail for the intended audience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
