The posting may close early due to the volume of applicants.Branch Real Estate (“BRE”) Legal Advisory Lead will provide business guidance on legal matters related to larger Branch Real Estate initiatives primarily within the Service Delivery Line of the department. This role is uniquely positioned at the intersection of legal and business providing critical guidance on leasing strategy, negotiations, and escalations across a national portfolio.The role will focus on several distinct work streams including: resolving branch lease issues that escalate from the field, acting as business lead for EDJ in lease documentation for high profile leasing projects with elevated complexity, visibility or cost outside of normal branch real estate parameters; and providing advice and strategic direction for various branch real estate issues as they arise in the leasing, design, construction, and administration of 16,000 branch offices and special projects. This role will act as a key thought partner to the business and legal teams ensuring risk aware, practical solutions that align with corporate real estate and legal objectives.What You’ll Do:

  • Act as a liaison between the legal department, outside counsel, service provider partner, various other third parties and the business facing real estate team to help translate legal principals into practical business guidance.
  • Identify, assess, and elevate legal issues that go beyond standard business decision making ensuring appropriate involvement from internal and external legal counsel.
  • Serve as key advisor on lease negotiations and various other complex transactions related to EDJ real estate branch portfolio and special projects.
  • Work cross-functionally with business teams, in-house and external counsel, landlords, brokers, etc.
  • Assist in drafting, revising, and interpreting a wide range of real estate documents including leases, amendments, letters of intent, etc.
  • Leverage internal and external relationships to ensure team deliverables are compliant with industry best practices and conform to internal policy and legal requirements. Communicate key business and legal concepts to senior management clearly in both written and oral form to effectively influence critical decisions.
  • Provide subject matter expertise to leaders and associates as a they manage multiple projects and people concurrently.
  • Support dispute resolution and recommend business strategy related to real estate issues as they arise in real time throughout the portfolio.
  • Work with internal legal, compliance, and business teams to mitigate risk and ensure adherence to enterprise policies, relevant law, compliance, and regulatory requirements.

Hiring Maximum: $199300Skills/RequirementsPosition Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Advanced degree – JD strongly preferred
  • Minimum of six years in financial services, corporate real estate, or legal settings.
  • Proven understanding of commercial real estate law including retail and office leasing principals, lease structuring, and landlord/tenant relationships.
  • Deep knowledge of lease negotiation process including key business and legal terms and structures. Working knowledge of interplay between legal risk and business objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience in corporate real estate operations to effectively partner with cross functional teams.
