Responsibilities:

  • To provide billing, including eBilling and related support within the Accounts Department for multiple offices, including London, Brussels, Dubai and Tokyo, as well as support to Germany and Singapore
  • To maintain the high standard of service offered to the Firm’s existing clients ensuring that procedures are followed. To work as part of a team that is committed to providing a professional high quality support service at all times.
  • Provide support to the Partners and Fee earners with bill processing and other administrative tasks as required.
  • Review and edit pre-bills in response to requests.
  • Produce accurate bills in accordance with instructions.
  • Prompt despatch of bills via email/e-billing.
  • Prompt resolution and escalation of eBilling queries.
  • Attention to detail to ensure compliance with UK VAT and SAR’s.
  • Client and matter details housekeeping.
  • Assisting with working capital management as required – produce and circulate work in progress information as requested.
  • Create and distribute billing performance reports as required.
  • Assist Management team with a move towards a structured billing cycle throughout month.
  • Provide subject matter expertise with projects/initiatives as required.
  • Assisting the Pricing team with client/matter rates management.
  • Review and verify accuracy of billing and supporting documentation as required.
  • Ability to effectively interact and communicate with Partners, Associates and Secretaries.
  • Work closely with eBilling, Revenue Control, Accounts Payable, Cashiers, Compliance and other teams, as required.
  • Apply Firm billing policies at all times.
  • Ability to handle a high volume of bills per month.
  • Process time transfers and time edits.
  • Process time and disbursement write-offs in accordance with Firm policy.

  • Educated to A level standard.

Experience & personal attributes:

  • Ideally, 3 years’ experience in a billing position in a busy, multi-currency law firm environment.
  • Ideally, experience of using the Aderant Practice Management System.
  • Display a sound knowledge of the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules and knowledge of VAT for law firm billing.
  • Possess excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work closely and communicate professionally with people at all levels within the firm as well as clients.
  • Be able to work unsupervised to strict deadlines, and have the ability to prioritise and manage varying workloads.
  • Strong general computer skills. Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook and Document Management Systems.
  • Personable, able and willing to work within and share knowledge to team members.
  • Reliable and well organised.
  • High level of accuracy and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Adaptable and flexible.
  • Ability to use own initiative
