Job description: General:Job description and person specificationJob Title: Beazley Insurance dac (BIDAC) Finance ManagerKey Relationships: Wider Finance Teams (MI, Corporate Finance, Group Reporting, Regulatory Reporting, Operations), Banks, Actuaries, Underwriters, Ceded RI, Compliance and Auditors.Job Summary: Responsible for maintaining/preparing accurate Beazley Insurance dac (BIDAC) accounting ledgers, providing analysis and management information to various stakeholders and supporting the production of the annual BIDAC financial statements. This may include, amongst others, Beazley’s underwriting control standards, Beazley’s claims control standards, other Beazley standards and customer relationship management.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as individually notified, either through your objectives or through the learning management system. These may include membership of any Beazley committees or working groups.

ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for preparing/maintaining accurate BIDAC (Beazley Insurance DAC) TB’s/accounting ledgers.
  • Responsibility for ensuring the “dashboards” (balance sheet and bank) are updated and reported on time and to the correct standard, including review and sign off of bank reconciliations.
  • Prepare quarterly reporting packs, including variance analysis to prior year/quarter positions and business forecasts.
  • Taking a pro-active approach to process improvement via structured reviews.
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting by applying a robust BIDAC balance sheet review process, identifying and resolving any issues on a timely basis.
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls ensuring data audit trails to source systems are understood.
  • Analytical review of BIDAC financial information including close liaison with the Management Information team.
  • Manage external and internal audit relationships. Preparing annual audit papers and managing the delivery of the Audit. Liaise with the business and external auditors to ensure technical audit points are being addressed and closed on a timely basis.
  • Support the preparation of annual audited financial statements for BIDAC and ensure timely submission to internal boards and governance forums.
  • Liaise with the Group Reporting team to ensure all analysis and information is made available to support the Group consolidation.
  • Liaise with the Regulatory Reporting team to ensure all necessary CBI reporting information is provided.
  • Support the submission of all BIDAC regulatory returns to the CBI.

Team:

  • Manage the workload and development of the BIDAC reporting team.
  • Develop a structure to cross train within the team to provide resilience.
  • Focus on team development in order to meet the reporting requirements of a fast-growing organisation.

. Finance projects and process improvements

  • Input into finance projects and process improvements to ensure that they drive efficiency and align with the finance systems strategy.

Other

  • Liaise with underwriters, actuaries, ceded reinsurance, auditors, senior management and/or third parties as appropriate.
  • Ad hoc projects as required.
  • As a Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) pre-approved function holder comply with all relevant regulatory and legal standards that apply to that role as set out by the CBI.

Personal SpecificationEducation and Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant – ACCA / ACA /CIMA qualified – minimum 3 years post qualification
  • Knowledge of insurance company accounting

Skills and Abilities
