This role will lead and support the Commercial and Tech Ops teams in preparation of budgets, forecasts, and strategic investments for growth. The position will be responsible for the end-to-end tactical execution of recurring financial requirements and for ensuring alignment across related teams. The Associate Director will support the Head of Finance – Japan to ensure comprehensive financial support for the management and analysis of overall Japan organization especially Commercial and Tech Ops (including current investments and future products). He/She will partner with Accounting team to manage COGS and inventory component cost tracking and in addition, will partner with business areas as needed to support special initiatives. Responsibilities: Responsibilities (Essential Role Responsibilities):

  • Serve as the lead and the day-to-day tactical financial business partner for Japan Commercial and Tech Ops functions to ensure budgets and forecast are collated, aligned, presented, and tracked for quarterly and annual planning processes. Collect and consolidate required information for recurring projections, variance analyses, and management reports. Support the Head of Finance – Japan on strategic teams and processes where appropriate.
  • Lead and manage all budgeting (annual), latest estimates (semi-annual + ad-hoc) and long-term planning (annual) revenue planning with the Commercial team. This includes in-market sales, wholesaler inventory, ex-factory gross and net sales, and price changes.
  • Review and analyze spending in commercial functions to ensure investments are made to improve access to Insmed products in appropriate patients and drive demand generation.
  • Proactively work on identifying opportunities and risks against forecasts and ensure investment and/or mitigation plans are in place to capture the opportunity or mitigate the risks identified.
  • Develop and maintain functional metrics/KPIs and dashboards to ensure optimal operation of the business.
  • Provide accurate and timely support of purchase requisition and invoice requirements for supported teams in accordance with Procurement and AP processes. Support business partners in related training and process improvement initiatives.
  • Serve as primary financial partner with Commercial and Tech Ops teams, and support COGS and process improvement projects. Collaborate with Accounting to analyze inventory levels to guarantee required customer service levels.
  • Partner with business areas and Accounting to ensure timely and accurate book closing and accruals for all supported functional areas.
  • Support the Head of Finance – Japan in partnership with Procurement in support of major contract review/analysis to ensure financial viability and minimize risk to Insmed.
  • Support Accounting and Audit teams with review and input on applicable initiatives and maintain internal control environment to the highest standards of compliance and integrity including compliance with Sarbanes Oxley Act (SOX).
  • Support FP&A team on ad-hoc analysis as needed, including but not limited to long range planning, scenario analysis, resource analysis, etc.

Position Requirements (Required and/or Preferred Skills, Experience and Education):

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field required, MBA a plus
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant financial FP&A experience (with advanced degree, all relevant experience will be considered); Experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is required
  • Experience in supporting Commercial and Technical Operations related functions required; Experience and understanding of Japan Drag Price system and Wholesaler inventory phasing
  • Experience with ERP systems is required; Oracle & Hyperion Planning experience is a plus
  • Experienced in developing executive level presentations and reporting packages/dashboards
  • Strong analytical stills and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Excellent communication skills in both Japanese and English (verbal and written)
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail, clarity, accuracy, and conciseness
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Committed to timeline-driven process associated with monthly closings, reporting deadlines, quarterly forecasts, and other ad-hoc projects
  • Dedicated team player with strong critical thinking skills; Ability to work well in cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, and manage multiple priorities in a changing environment
  • Must successfully exhibit Insmed’s core corporate competencies
