Our teams are working hard to enable a sustainable, net-zero carbon future.Our Information Services and Technology (IST) Division delivers and supports the technology infrastructure and the ~180 applications that interface with the grid, facilitates grid operations and system operations, and supports our corporate processes and functions.About the teamThe IST Delivery Services team work to deliver circa $50m of technology projects per annum, employing both waterfall and agile delivery techniques. The group is responsible for the delivery and for the well-managed and appropriately resourced project delivery process, designed to ensure a consistent experience for all stakeholders. The right people and timely delivery of our work programme is essential to Whakamana I Te Mauri Hiko – Empowering our Energy Future.The Delivery Services Business Analysis Capability team provide a critical connection between business groups and project teams to help ensure that planned projects in the longer term and delivery projects in the shorter-term address business needs.The OpportunityWorking within our IST Business Analysis capability team alongside and under the direction of seasoned Business Analysts/Senior Business Analysts, you will collaborate with a range of business stakeholders to elicit, qualify, and define business problems via interviews and workshops and translate them into clearly articulated solution requirements to inform solution development.You will work on varied intellectually stimulating projects, learning, and applying problem trajectory analysis, requirements gathering, process analysis, gap analysis, root cause analysis, design of new functionality, and product configuration. You will further participate in and support the organisation and prioritisation of requirements using techniques such product road maps, epics, user stories, and backlogs.This is a great opportunity to become part of our journey of maturing our business analysis practice in our Delivery Service Group, including the standardisation of business analysis ways of working, advocating for the use of standards, best practices and tools, and promoting software and knowledge assets reuse that will help achieve Delivery Services outcomes more efficiently.So, what will you bring?You’ll hold a relevant degree qualification in a related discipline such as business analysis, computer science, UX/UI design or an equivalent degree with courses in IT or Business Analysis included in the programme of study and possess at least a high-level understanding of ICT concepts such as cloud, API integration, data mastership, cybersecurity, user experience, etc., and will have gained some experience working in an ICT environment performing activities such as requirements gathering, business analysis, software testing and development, technical coordination, front-end or mobile app/website development.Your CV and cover letter will demonstrate ability and/or experience to:

• Apply your high-level understanding and self-starting motivation to develop expertise in Business Analysis skills.
• Analyse numbers, trends, and data to support problem qualification and definition, root cause analysis, and solution evaluation, design, and acceptance.
• Apply critical and analytical thinking in ambiguous discussions and confidence in your contributions aimed at solving complex issues.
• Engage and proactively establish rapport with stakeholders with confidence to suggest direction and propose solutions.
• Apply working knowledge of Microsoft applications, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
• Apply active listening and communication skills with attention to detail in all written documentation.
• Question the status quo and come at problems from multiple angles using a mix of high-quality research, prototyping, and creativity.

While not essential, the following will be highly regarded:

• Qualification in Business Analysis such as Entry Certificate in Business Analysis™ (ECBA™)
• Certifications in related areas – Cloud foundations, Analytics, Agile/Scrum, Requirements Gathering, etc.
