- Support the development and implementation of CIMB’s medium- and long-term sustainability strategies and plans, aligning with CIMB’s corporate strategy and guidance from the Board and EXCO. Assist in translating strategic ambitions into actionable plans that remain responsive to external factors, supported by clear implementation roadmaps, stakeholder engagement, and monitoring processes.
- Assist in CIMB’s annual sustainability planning, prioritisation, and target-setting processes across all regions and Group entities
- Support the execution of strategic sustainability initiatives, contributing to project management, tracking, and interdepartmental coordination the Group while assisting in programme governance and reporting to support transparency and accountability.
- Assist in the coordination and governance of Group-wide sustainability decision-making through Board-level and management-level committees, supporting alignment and documentation of key decisions.
- Support the monitoring of developments in sustainability and sustainable finance and preparation of updates and analysis to inform the Group’s strategic direction and priorities.
- Support CIMB’s participation in external sustainability events, helping to prepare materials and updates that strengthen CIMB’s positioning on responsible finance and sustainability in the region.
Stakeholder Engagement and Advocacy
- Assist in the delivery of CIMB’s stakeholder engagement and advocacy initiatives to support the Group’s sustainability ambitions and responsible finance positioning
- Support stakeholder mapping and relationship management efforts with all stakeholders in alignment with CIMB’s sustainability objectives.
- Assist in the execution of CIMB’s external sustainability positioning, including supporting communications across channels to align with CIMB’s sustainability strategy and commitments. Support flagship initiatives such as The Cooler Earth and Sustainability Investor Day, and assist in responding to stakeholder requests, including rating assessments, materiality exercises, and disclosure-related queries.
- Support sustainability disclosure processes, including assisting in annual reporting, regulatory compliance (e.g., IFRS S1/S2, TCFD, TNFD), and the tracking of performance against sustainability benchmarks.
- Contribute to internal sustainability engagement initiatives through supporting internal communications and change management activities to encourage a purpose-driven culture aligned with CIMB’s sustainability roadmap and core purpose of “advancing customers and society.” Collaborate with the Learning & Development team to support initiatives under the CIMB Sustainability Academy that build sustainability awareness and integration across functions.
- Support governance of CIMB’s sustainability communications and positioning, including assisting in the implementation of message governance protocols to mitigate reputational and greenwashing risks, and monitoring consistency between CIMB’s sustainability policies and those of external partners.
Key Dimension of Impact *
- Maintain and strengthen CIMB’s standing as a sustainability leader in ASEAN, as measured by top-tier rankings in key global indices (e.g. S&P Global CSA, Sustainalytics, WWF SUSBA), and enhance investor perception of CIMB’s long-term sustainability credibility and performance.
- Deliver high-quality disclosures and communications that strengthen brand, reputation, and stakeholder confidence-including among investors-while meeting regulatory expectations and share-of-voice targets. Safeguard credibility through robust governance of Sustainability messaging, greenwashing risk management, and alignment between internal practices and external advocacy.
- Embed a purpose-driven culture centred on “advancing customers and society” across all functions, with measurable improvement in staff sustainability capabilities, leadership alignment, and daily decision-making.
Job Specification *Qualifications(Basic Degree/Diploma etc)At least a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised institution, preferably financial or sustainability-relatedProfessional Qualification and/or Regulatory, Licensing requirementsNot required, but a diploma or certificate in related to Environmental or Social issues would be beneficialRelevant Work ExperienceAt least 3 to 5 years relevant working experience, preferably with project management and/or Sustainability role.
