Job description: Job Title: Assistant Manager (Resource Management)Department: LibraryJob ID: 10541Job Posting DetailsAs an Assistant Manager in the Resource Management Department, you will report directly to the Head of Resource Management. Your primary role will involve leading a dedicated team within the Department, overseeing Officers and Assistant Officers to effectively carry out essential library functions. These functions include the coordination of library resource procurement, electronic resource management, and metadata management to ensure prompt and efficient access to library collections.Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate ordering and invoicing processes in alignment with acquisitions decisions made by the Collection Development Committee.
  • Assist in compiling comprehensive expenditure reports, collection usage statistics, and various acquisitions data.
  • Manage electronic resource activities by troubleshooting access issues, overseeing electronic holdings through streamlined workflows, and facilitating communication with vendors and colleagues.
  • Conduct cataloging tasks for library materials in compliance with local and JULAC cataloging practices, international standards, and guidelines.
  • Support in updating metadata to maintain the accuracy and relevance of bibliographic and authority records within the JULAC shared ILS.
  • Collaborate on compiling unit reports and statistics, and contribute to the development and upkeep of internal department manuals and procedures.
  • Fulfill any additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisors to ensure the smooth operation of the Resource Management Department.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in library resource management, acquisitions, cataloging, or related areas.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for effective team coordination and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency in library automation systems and software tools.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the efficient management of library resources, drive operational excellence, and play a pivotal role in enhancing access to information for library users.(Duration: 2 years, renewable)Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
