Job description: Job Responsibilities

• Assist the Department Head in running and managing the new business and underwriting operations.
• Evaluate insurance applications and supporting documentation to assess risk and determine appropriate coverage, terms and pricing.
• Develop and implement underwriting guidelines, policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance with industry regulations.
• Collaborate with sales, product and actuarial teams to refine underwriting practices and enhance the customer experience.
• Provide training and guidance to junior underwriting staff to develop their skills and expertise.
• Approval of cases up to the underwriting limited formally granted.
• Handle ad-hoc underwriting projects assigned by the Department Head.

Job Requirements

• University graduate with life insurance professional qualification (e.g. FLMI or ICA)
• Minimum 3 years of underwriting experience in life insurance
• Hold an underwriting authority in handling individual life applications up to substandard level
• Able to develop competitive underwriting guidelines & procedures and ensuring high quality of underwriting services
• Familiar with local regulations and compliance
• Meticulous, analytical and a team player
• Proficient in written and spoken English, written Chinese, spoken Cantonese and Mandarin
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
