  • supporting growth in businesses and industries
  • fostering research and innovation

  • helping the environment
  • providing emergency relief

We provide an end-to-end grant delivery service using a national network. In addition to grant program management, the division encompasses enabling functions that provide a comprehensive support model for grant delivery. These broadly include management of grant assurance and compliance activities, workforce planning as well as delivery of continuous improvement projects.It is a dynamic division of over 380 people, all our teams are geographically dispersed with staff located all around Australia!About the section The Assurance and Compliance team within the Business Grants Hub plays a vital role in supporting program teams, the Executives and Policy Partner agencies. The team is responsible for assurance advisory services, compliance monitoring, program reviews and project management.   • Experience in the planning and conduct of assurance activities to test risk controls and compliance, and make high quality recommendations based on analysis of the findings
  • High-level understanding of the grant management environment or a demonstrated ability to quickly gain this (e.g. experience with interpreting and applying legislation in complex situations)
  • Leadership and management skills, including the ability to support and develop a geographically dispersed team to deliver outcomes in the face of ambiguity and change
  • Experience providing high quality advice and pragmatic recommendations on complex matters
  • Experience building strong relationships and proactively dealing with challenging situations to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes both in person and remotely
  • Identify common or systemic issues and support their remediation, including identifying and driving opportunities for continuous improvement

What you will doAs an Assistant Manager in the Assurance and Compliance team you will report directly to the Manager and work with a high level of autonomy under broad direction. You will:

  • Lead the development and implementation of an annual assurance plan to provide risk-based assurance across grant management practices
  • Lead, manage and develop your team to deliver a range of assurance and compliance activities in a positive, productive and inclusive environment
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of relevant legislations and policies, including the PGPA Act 2013, the CGRPs 2024, departmental frameworks and policies, and provide advice on their application to grants management processes in complex situations
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain overarching policy and procedure frameworks for grants management and administration
  • Identify common or systemic assurance and compliance issues, and aid in their remediation and/or escalation
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement initiatives and support your team’s contribution to the division’s strategic direction
