The role | Te tūngaThis role is based in the Wellington CBD area and is a unique opportunity to be a part of creating better outcomes for New Zealander’s. Reporting to the Manager – Data Labs, you will work in the Data Operations & Infrastructure branch of Insights & Statistics. The Data Lab Advisor plays a key role in supporting researchers through the end-to-end process of accessing and using the Data Lab and the Integrated Data Infrastructure (IDI). This includes guiding applicants through the approval process, managing project variations, and assisting with technical and compliance-related queries. Advisors provide training on secure data access, confidentiality requirements, and best practices to ensure researchers can work effectively within the Data Lab environment.Advisors act as the main point of contact for customers, ensuring a smooth experience while maintaining strict adherence to security and privacy protocols. They also contribute to process improvements and collaborate with stakeholders to enhance the overall Data Lab service.Key Responsibilities:
- Client Engagement: Collaborate with researchers and clients to understand their data needs and deliver customised statistical datasets.
- Data Access Management: Ensure secure, efficient management of microdata access services, maintaining high standards of data confidentiality.
- Relationship Coordination: Serve as the primary liaison between Statistics New Zealand and researchers, fostering strong relationships and smooth communication.
- Community Engagement: Promote the value of official statistics across various sectors in New Zealand, highlighting available statistical products and services.
- Support and Guidance: Provide expert advice and support to researchers, helping them effectively navigate and utilise microdata services.
Our ideal candidate will bring the following:
- Academic Background: A good tertiary academic record, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience: 2-3 years in a customer-facing role.
- Customer Focus: Understand and anticipate customer needs, deliver value, and maintain a customer-centric mindset to implement process improvements.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to think beyond existing processes to create innovative solutions.
- Technical Skills: Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of tools.
- Presentation Skills: Capable of professionally presenting and leading training sessions.
- Working Style: Resilient, flexible, and agile.
- Have familiarity with, or a commitment to learn and understand, Te Tiriti, Tikanga, Te Ao and Te Reo Māori.
