In this pivotal role, you’ll be the go-to expert helping students, parents, and the campus community make sense of complex state statutes—transforming confusion into clarity when it comes to residency for tuition, the $1,000 Tuition Rebate, Excess Credit Hours, B-On-Time Loan Forgiveness, Three-Peat course charges, and tuition rate structures. But that’s not all—you’ll also play a critical role in evaluating individual student records to determine eligibility and ensure accurate application of these policies. If you’re passionate about higher education and love making a real impact, this is your chance to shine!What You Need to KnowSalary Range: $50,000.00 – $55,000.00 (Based on selected hire’s qualifications)Cover Letter & Resume: A cover letter and resume are strongly recommendedQualificationsRequired Education and Experience:Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experienceThree years of experience in office administrationKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of Microsoft products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPointAbility to multi-task and work cooperatively with othersAdaptable interpersonal communication skillsPreferred Qualifications:Minimum one year in higher education, planning and organizational skillsAbility to present to large constituent populations.ResponsibilitiesTexas Residency DeterminationDevelops and maintains knowledge and understanding of the Texas Residency for tuition purposes guidelinesInterprets and applies State of Texas guidelines to assist in determining whether a student has met the qualifications to be classified as a Texas Resident for tuition purposesUses personal discretion when determining what additional documentation should be provided by those seeking Texas Resident status based on evaluation of student situation and previously submitted documentationUses independent judgment in determination of Residency status based on individual circumstances. Responsible for notification of residency status determination.State Policies CorrespondenceAnswers email, phone calls, and conducts walk-in visits for the State Policies section, which includes inquiries made regarding Texas Residency, Tuition Rebate process, Excess Credit Hour rule, Bacterial Meningitis, Three-Peat fees, and B-On-Time Loan Forgiveness eligibility.Responds to non-routine requests regarding state policiesEvaluates incoming mail, correspondence and inquiries and provides proper instructions for solution to requestsAssists in the distribution of bulk mail pertaining to Tuition Rebate and Excess Credit Hour rule. Assists Assistant Registrar and Director with requests for media and presentations on state policies from other Texas A&M University departmentsPrepare documentation for appeals regarding State Policies submitted to the University Fiscal Appeals PanelTuition Rebate AdministrationDevelops and maintains knowledge and understanding of the Tuition Rebate process and guidelines surrounding the eligibility of a student to receive a tuition rebateAnalyzes student records and applies Tuition Rebate requirements and guidelines to determine whether a student is eligible for a tuition rebateUses personal discretion regarding situations not clearly defined in the guidelines set forth by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating BoardResponsible for providing students with procedures for University Student Fiscal Appeal regarding Tuition RebateExcess Credit Hour ProcessingDevelops and maintains knowledge and understanding of the Excess Credit Hour ruleInterprets and applies the guidelines set forth by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to assist in determining whether a student is in excess of their allotted credit hoursResponsible for reviewing student records and determining total hours attemptedReviews student records and analyzes situations not clearly defined in the guidelines set forth by state policy to determine student status in regards to excessive hoursDetermines what additional information must be provided from the student to assist excessive hour determinationResponsible for contacting Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board to request release of state records for studentsResponsible for providing students with procedures for University Student Fiscal Appeal regarding Excess Credit Hour limitB-On-Time Loan Forgiveness and 3-Peat Fee AdministrationDevelops and maintains basic knowledge and understanding of the B-On-Time Loan Forgiveness process and guidelines surrounding the eligibility of a student to have this loan forgiven.Interprets and applies B-On-Time Loan Forgiveness requirements and guidelines to assist in determining whether a student is eligible for B-On-Time Loan Forgiveness.Works with Student Business Services to explain and maintain 3-Peat fees based on prior registration.Who We AreThe Office of the Registrar has the primary responsibility of maintaining academic records of all current and former students.
